This Stunning Lake Superior Agate has the image of a majestic Maple tree etched on the stone. The shape of the Maple tree perfectly matches the Agate and the sterling back piece. The etching on the stone is done in a way the bands of the Agate become the foliage of the Maple. The back piece is hand textured with fluted edges that remind us of the the falling leaves on a crisp fall day.

LAKE SUPERIOR AGATE

Agates are a gemstone with a hardness of 7; harder than Basalt or Rhyolite. Beautiful banding, varied patterns, and eye-catching colors unique to each agate are created by quartz with small amounts of different elements. Red bands are the result of the rusting of iron within the agate when exposed to oxygen. These gemstones can be found on many Lake Superior beaches throughout the states of Michigan, Wisconsin, and Minnesota.
