The three loveliest stones of Lake Superior grace this pendant from top to bottom Agate, Thomsonite, and Greenstone. They are set on a texture sterling silver back.

LAKE SUPERIOR AGATE
Agates are a gemstone with a hardness of 7; harder than Basalt or Rhyolite. Beautiful banding, varied patterns, and eye-catching colors unique to each agate are created by quartz with small amounts of different elements. Red bands are the result of the rusting of iron within the agate when exposed to oxygen. These gemstones can be found on many Lake Superior beaches throughout the states of Michigan, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. Properties: Good for security, strength, to raise energy and to enhance personal courage and calming.

LAKE SUPERIOR GREENSTONE
Chlorastrolite is a special variety of the mineral pumpellyite. Like agate, chlorastrolite formed when mineralizing fluids filled gas cavities in basaltic lava flows. It is found on Isle Royale and in some Keweenaw Peninsula copper mines. Chlorastrolite, or “green star stone,” has a silky green, radiating pattern that makes it a special gift from Lake Superior. Properties: Enhances harmony and cooperation in relationships as well as personal healing.

THOMSONITE
Thomsonite is a very unique stone found only on a small 6-mile stretch of beach on the North Shore of Lake Superior in Minnesota. Thomsonite is formed like agates, through water percolation into petrified bubbles in the basalt. Thomsonite is rarer than agate. It is considered a semiprecious stone by some. Look for an “iris” of pale green and radiating circles or “veins” of pink. Properties: Aids clarity of thought.
